May 23, 2022- The MOFEP bird crew started their field season. The crew will conduct point count surveys and nest surveys to track breeding songbird abundance, nest success, and brood parasitism by Brown-headed Cowbirds. By the end of the 2022 breeding season, crews will have collected a nearly continuous dataset that enables a comparison of 5 years of pre-treatment results (beginning in 1991) to changes that occurred over 15 years following the first harvest (in 1996) and 10 years after the second harvest entry (in 2011).
May 17, 2021- The MOFEP bird crew started their field season. Crews are continuing to follow COVID-19 safety precautions.

August 10, 2019- Dr. Kenneth Kellner (Postdoctoral Fellow, West Virginia University) and co-authors publish “Effects of forest management on vertebrates: synthesizing two decades of data from hardwood forests in Missouri, USA” in Ecological Applications.
June 3, 2019- Dr. Andrew George (Assistant Professor, Pittsburg State University) and co-authors publish “Response of Shrubland Birds to Regenerating Clearcut Area and Shape” in The Journal of Wildlife Management.
